Israel 2.5MW/6.8MWh Grid-Side BESS Project

This project in Israel deploys a 2.5MW/6.8MWh grid-side Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), designed to optimize energy consumption and unlock economic value through self-consumption and arbitrage services. The system integrates seamlessly with a 2 MW photovoltaic (PV) array and supports a 1 MW factory load.

System Configuration

  • Energy Storage for PV Integration: 1.25MW/3.4MWh is dedicated to capturing surplus PV energy for in-house self-consumption.

  • Arbitrage Operation: To leverage electricity price differentials, the BESS charges at night (00:00–08:00) using low-cost valley electricity, then discharges during the day to supply the factory load or capitalize on higher day-time tariffs.

Objectives & Benefits

  • Maximized PV Utilization: Increases the factory’s use of on-site solar generation, reducing reliance on the grid.

  • Cost-Effective Arbitrage: Generates direct financial savings by shifting energy usage from low-price periods to peak-price hours.

  • Operational Efficiency: Intelligent EMS ensures precise control of charging and discharging, aligning energy flows with tariffs, load demand, and PV output.

This project demonstrates how advanced energy storage integration can transform commercial and industrial energy strategies—enhancing sustainability, reducing costs, and providing a scalable model for future deployments.
